Dragon Academy App — Privacy Policy

Updated: Aug 1

Last updated: 1 August 2026

Who we are

The Dragon Academy app is operated by Dragon Academy Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16871720), running football academy sessions across South Wales and online at dragondevelopment.co.uk. This policy covers the mobile app only.

What we collect

Parent account: your email address and display name.

Child profiles you create: first name, last name, age group, training branch, and optionally date of birth.

Your own contact details, if you choose to add them: a mobile number and a postal address, entered under Account details in your profile. Both are optional, both belong to you as the adult holding the account, and they exist so the academy can reach you about your child's place — a session cancelled at short notice, a kit order, a question a coach needs answered. You can change or clear them at any time.

Progress data: training attendance, XP, badges and awards, and mini-game scores — drawn from the academy's own coaching records and from use of the app.

Messages you send to, or receive from, your child's coaches.

Photos you choose to attach when submitting a home training task or a grassroots award — see "Photos you send us" below.

What we do not collect

We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell your data. We show no third-party advertising. We do not use your data to train artificial intelligence models.

We do not ask for, or want, photographs of children. Nothing you send is ever shown to another family, published in the app, or posted anywhere public.

How we use it

To run your account, show your child's progress, and pass messages between you and your coaches. Payments and memberships are handled by our website provider (Wix), not inside the app.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, your device gives us an anonymous push token so we can tell you about your own child — an evolution, training XP landing, a broken streak, a reply from a coach. The token identifies the device, not you or your child, and is used for nothing else: no marketing, no advertising, no profiling. Notifications are delivered through Expo's push service, which passes the message to Apple and does not retain it.

You can decline when the app asks, or turn them off later in your device settings, and everything else carries on working — every notification is always available in the app's own notifications screen. We send nothing between 9pm and 8am. When you sign out we delete the token for that device, so a shared phone stops receiving alerts for an account that is no longer signed in.

Photos you send us

There are two places in the app where you can attach a photo from your device, both optional and both initiated by you as the parent. When submitting a home training task you may add a picture of your drill or setup. When claiming a grassroots award you attach a picture of the trophy, medal or certificate so a coach can verify it.

These photos are meant to show equipment, a pitch or a physical award — not children. They are sent privately to your own academy's coaching staff, who see them in an internal dashboard. They are never displayed to other families, never appear in any feed or leaderboard, and are never published anywhere. Coaches can reject anything inappropriate at review.

The app reads only the single image you pick, and only at the moment you pick it. It does not browse, scan or upload your photo library. If you would like a photo you have sent removed, email us and we will delete it, or delete your account to remove everything at once.

Leaderboards

The app shows academy leaderboards. Children are listed by first name and last initial only (for example "Jack M.") — never a full name, photograph or age.

You choose, when you set up a child's profile, whether they are named at all, and you can change it any time at Profile → Leaderboard listing. A child who is not named still takes part; they simply appear as "A Dragon".

Messaging, reporting and blocking

Messaging is limited to a private thread between a family and the coaches of their own academy. There is no player-to-player or parent-to-parent messaging, no group chat, no user search, no public profile, and no photo, video or file attachments in messages.

You can report any message by pressing and holding it, and report a conversation as a whole using the warning triangle in the thread header. Reports go to the academy's moderation queue for review by a member of staff. You can block a sender the same way, and undo it at Profile → Blocked.

Data sharing

We use trusted service providers to host the app and its database. They process data only to provide the service, and never for their own purposes.

Where you have linked your child to the academy's own records, the contact details you enter under Account details are copied onto that child's entry in our internal membership records, so the coaching team works from the same information you see. Nothing else about your account, and nothing about your child's progress in the app, is copied there.

Deleting your account and your data

You can delete your account and all of its data at any time from inside the app: Profile → Delete account. This permanently removes your login, your children's dragons, and all progress, records, messages, submitted photos and notifications held in the app. It cannot be undone.

Deleting the app account does not cancel an academy membership — contact us for that. You can also ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it, by emailing dylan@dragondevelopment.co.uk.

Members and non-members

You do not have to train with Dragon Academy to use the app. If you sign up without choosing a branch, we record that your child is not an academy member and keep them entirely separate from our branch registers, so a coach never sees a child who does not attend their sessions. We hold the same limited details as for any other child, and use them only to run the app and, if you ask, to tell you about joining the academy.

Children's privacy

Accounts are held by parents and guardians. Children do not create their own accounts. An optional player login for older children can only be created by the parent from inside their own account, and stays permanently tied to it.
