A Message From the Coach: Why Dragon Academy Means Everything to Me

My name is Dylan Powell, and football has been my life for as long as I can remember.

I've been coaching for over 10 years, and at 19 years old I became one of the third youngest managers in Welsh football history when I took over at Garw SBGC in the 4th tier of Welsh football. That experience shaped everything about how I coach today. At an age where most people were still figuring things out, I was learning what it really takes to lead a group of players, earn their respect, and build something they could be proud of.

Since then I've gone on to manage Cefn Cribwr in the 3rd tier of Welsh football in the Ardal South West league — experiences that have given me a depth of knowledge and passion for the game that I now bring into every single Dragon Academy session.

Why I Started Dragon Academy

I started Dragon Football Academy because I wanted to give young players something I know makes a real difference: proper coaching, in a safe and encouraging environment, from someone who genuinely cares. Not just about football — but about the kids themselves.

Football taught me discipline, resilience, how to handle pressure, and how to be part of something bigger than yourself. Every session at Dragon Academy is built around passing those lessons on.
