Dragon Academy Opens with 22 Players Across Two Age Groups
Tuesday, July 1st 2025 marked a milestone moment for grassroots football in South Wales as Dragon Academy officially launched its very first training session – and what a night it was!
With 22 excited young players stepping onto the pitch, the evening was filled with energy, determination, and a shared passion for development. From five-year-olds taking their first steps in structured football to confident 12-year-olds ready to push to the next level, the academy’s vision came to life under the lights.
Led by UEFA B Licensed coach Dylan Powell, Dragon Academy aims to provide an affordable, consistent, and high-quality coaching environment focused on teamwork, growth, and progression. The players were split into two age groups – 5–8 and 9–13 – allowing each child to get age-appropriate coaching and the attention they need to thrive.
“To see so many families buy into the vision from day one was incredible. The energy tonight was class – and this is just the beginning,” Dylan said after the session.
With partnerships already in place with Macron for training wear and plans to enter teams into the ENG League this September – one of the UK’s most exciting independent youth football platforms – Dragon Academy is shaping up to be more than just a weekly training night. It’s a movement.
Families and players alike were full of praise after the opening session, with one parent commenting:
“Thomas loved his first session – thank you!”
Spots are still available on a free trial basis, but with capacity filling fast, early booking is advised.
